N-tert-Butoxycarbonylsarcosine methyl ester - Introduction
N-Boc-N-methyl glycine methyl ester is an organic compound with the chemical formula C11H19NO5.
Nature:
N-Boc-N-methyl glycine methyl ester is a colorless liquid with a density of about 1.08 g/mL and a boiling point of 194-195 ℃. It is stable at room temperature, but it is easy to oxidize and decompose under light, moisture and oxygen conditions.
Use:
N-Boc-N-methyl glycine methyl ester is mainly used for Amine protecting groups in organic synthesis. It can protect amine groups so that unexpected reactions do not occur during the reaction. In addition, it can also be used as a synthetic intermediate for the preparation of other organic compounds.
Method:
N-Boc-N-methyl glycine methyl ester is generally synthesized through the following steps:
1. Methanol and glycine methyl ester are reacted in the presence of a base to obtain glycine methyl ester formate.
2. Add diethylcarbamate (Boc2O) in active solvent (such as dimethyl sulfoxide), and react with glycine methyl formate to obtain N-Boc-glycine methyl ester.
3. Finally, N-Boc-glycine methyl ester is reacted with methyl magnesium bromide to generate N-Boc-N-methyl glycine methyl ester.
Safety Information:
N-Boc-N-methyl glycine methyl ester is relatively safe under general operating conditions, care should be taken to avoid contact with strong oxidants and strong acids. Appropriate personal protective measures, such as gloves and protective glasses, should be taken during use and storage.
